Intro to Assets

An important part of configuring the Bolster platform is cataloging your online assets in the Assets database. Cataloging your online assets achieves the following goals:

  • informs the Bolster platform about what threat actors might try to take advantage of
  • whitelists your assets
  • helps Bolster blacklist potentially malicious domains more aggressively

Types of Assets

Bolster considers more than just your URLs and logos. Here’s a list of the materials you can upload to our database:

  • logos
  • documents
  • registered trademarks
  • domains
  • social media accounts
  • marketplace accounts
  • app store accounts

Adding Logo Assets

To add logo assets to the Bolster database:

  1. Go to Assets > Logos.

2. Click Add Logo.

3. Upload up to 10 logo files.

4. Click Submit.

Tips

  • Upload graphic files for the different variations of your logo.
  • Consider including old logos that you are no longer using.

Adding Document Assets

To add document assets to the Bolster database:

  1. Go to Assets > Documents.

2. Click Add Document.

3. Upload up to 10 PDFs.

4. Provide descriptive information in the Notes field.

5. Click Submit.

Adding Registered Trademark Assets

In most cases, a Trademark is the most powerful way to protect your brand. That is because it carries the weight of US Law Enforcement. The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has extensive regulations regarding Trademarks and the US government is compelled to enforce them on customers behalf.

Bolster will communicate Trademark violations to a hosting/registrar provider for a takedown on your behalf. The power of a Trademark violation greatly increases the speed of a response and the efficacy of the takedown request. For this reason, Bolster will often send in your Trademark as proof of ownership.

To add registered trademark assets to the Bolster database:

  1. Go to Assets > Registered Trademarks.

2. Click Add Trademark.

3. Provide the following information from your trademark filing receipt:

  • label (the trademark text)
  • registration number
  • jurisdiction
  • class

4. Click Submit.

Adding Domains

To add the domains you manage:

  1. Go to Assets > Managed By <your org>.

2. Click Add Assets.

3. Select Add New Assets.

4. Enter the domains, separated by commas.

5. Click Submit.

Tips

  • You can upload a CSV containing the domains by selecting Upload Multiple Assets instead of Add New Assets.

Adding Social Media Accounts

To add your social media accounts:

  1. Go to Assets > Social Media.

2. Click Add Social Media.

3. Provide the following information about this social media account:

  • platform
  • account/channel name
  • URL

4. Click Submit.

Adding Marketplace Accounts

To add your marketplace account:

  1. Go to Assets > Marketplace.

2. Click Add Marketplace.

3. Provide the following information for the account:

  • platform
  • marketplace name
  • seller name

4. Click Submit.

Adding Apps on App Stores

To add your app:

  1. Go to Assets > App Store.

2. Click Add App.

3. Provide the following information for the app:

  • app name
  • app store
  • URL

4. Click Submit.
